Customer-Obsession + Great Employees = Growth & Client Experience Personal Tell us one thing most people would be surprised to know about you? I once backpacked across all of Europe for three months with no plans or itinerary nor a single reservation. I visited more than 15 countries, saw the world through a different lens and appreciate more what I/we have every day. Phenomenal experience. Tell us a little about your family? I am blessed with a great family – my wife for over 12 years (Sherry), two great kids (Brandon and Addison) and a very happy dog (Wrigley) after the Cubs won it all. What is the most daring thing you’ve ever done or want to do? I’ve had the opportunity to finish a few Tough Mudder races and the "Electroshock Therapy" at the end is a bit nuts… 10,000 volts of electricity running through you to finish is a bit daring. But… I’ll likely sign up for another. What habit would you like to shake? I drink way too much coffee. What do you want to know about the future? I’m fascinated to see how the speed of technology will impact our lives, our economy and the lives of my children in the future. Will Amazon and Google dominate the next 50 years? Self-driving cars and airplanes on demand? Either that… or just give me tomorrow’s winning lottery numbers. If you could invite one person to dinner, whom would you invite and why? I’d love to have dinner with both of my grandfathers who served in WWII. They were on opposite theatres – one was island hopping in the Pacific and the other working through France and Germany. To have both together and talk through life, the Greatest Generation and the world today, would be fascinating. What’s the best advice you ever got? “We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak.” I’m completely obsessed with: Chicago Sports… Cubs, Bulls, Bears, Blackhawks. The fictional character most like you? Not sure about most like me, but my favorite fictional character of all time is Edmond Dantès from “The Count of Monte Cristo.” My favorite story ever written. The latest book or movie that made you cry? I often read history books so not much crying there. I do get a good tear-up every time I see "Rudy," "Remember the Titans," and “Field of Dreams.” I wish I could explain it! What would you do if you couldn’t be what you are now? School teacher. What achievement are you most proud of? Professionally – For me it’s the GE employees I’ve had the pleasure of working with, getting to know personally/ professionally, and seeing develop in various roles. And then how the teams I’ve been a part of – and there’s been a few special ones – have gone above and beyond to develop a family culture, deliver a great client experience, take care of each other and grow a profitable business for GE. Personally – It’s certainly building a great family with my wife, seeing my children grow and becoming great people. Time travel: where, when and why? Great question... Either 1941 United States on the brink of WWII to see the U.S. respond together as one country united, or 1861-1863 United States going through our darkest days through the Civil War and witness keeping the country together. Can you tell I’m a bit of a U.S. history nut? Getting to Know…
